I have been thinking for a while of getting an electric razor to replace the trusty Mach 3 turbo, mainly because of the cost of blades.

Boots (hopefully not breaking no competetors rule, if so please change dons) has on offer a Remington shaver for £69.99 saving £70 and a Braun for £54.89, saving £54.90.

Anyone used or recommend either? Both seem very good offers.

Cheers.

there was a topic asking the same question recently, i'd find that topic if i were you.

I wouldnt recommend a cheap electric shaver, as i used one for about a year and got a rash under my chin and had really bad razer burn. Use wet shave now and im quite happy.

Depends how you feel.

Ive been using a philips shaver for over a year (its got a nivia moisturiser pack on it a swell) and its really good. If I wet shave it irritates my skin like no end so my choice was quite easy to make.

The two models youve quoted arent too shabby tbh, just make sure you always keep them charged otherwise their effectiveness really gets hampered.

I used an electric from about aged 16 to 25 and since then started using a Mach 3 and now Gilette Fusion, i know you're looking to move away from blades and to electrics, but they never seem to give as smooth a shave as thier bladed counterparts, i keep my old braun electric around incase a go 3-4 days without a shave then use that as a "weed whacker" but i'd honestly stick with wet shaves if you value smoothness/cleanliness.

Just my opinion, of course! ;)

If you want to save money, start to use double edge razors. The blades work out at between 25 and 35p each and you will get a far better shave than a Mach 3 and a vastly superior shave to an electric razor. Electric razors are useless at giving a close shave and often irritate the skin.

Do a search for Merkur razors. A Merkur 34 razor handle will cost you about £25 and 50 blades will cost about £15. If you change blades twice a week, it'll cost you £30 a year in blades. Bargain.

Are those ones any good? Not for me btw :p

Very good. I have been using it for a good while and there is no better shave. I can even get a closer shave with it than I can get at the barbers with a cut throat.

I use a Merkur 34 with Feather blades and I will never go back to Gillette or electric razors again.

Have a look here, this is where I got all my gear from and the service was excellent - http://www.gentlemansshop.com/

After reading this thread i tried a Merkur Futur with Feather blades from here and wow the difference is amazing! Shaving is enjoyable
Grab a nice badger hair shaving brush and your all set!
Oh and cheers Scuzi for the suggestions!
