Does anyone have these kind of windows on their house? Blinds and curtains have become such an annoyance in my room, they get dirty, the rail has fallen out once, if the window is open they blow in the wind or get sucked out the window and I was wondering if you can use electric windows as a replacement for curtains and blinds etc?

I was thinking about this the other day due to my kids rooms being very light and blackout blinds being annoying when the window is open.

What kind of price are we talking about for a 1x1m pane?

I cant quite remember, FYI its called smart glass (I think electrochromic glass is the technical name) and it becomes frosted not black.

Put it this way, I am spending 40k to knock out the roof and put some new sliding doors in and and I could not justify install this glass due to the cast. 400 quid per m2 rings a bell but I really dont remember.

But if you only need 1m2 then a few extra quid will not be such a huge issue.

I've seen some types which do turn black, but I don't know how available they are. If it's £400 per m2 then it's something I will definitely consider.

If you find something that turns black let me know as I would also consider it providing its affordable.
