I'll have a read of it tomorrow at the office! Thanks a lot

Honestly, they know the voltage, they are told the power demands, an engineer absolutely should know what standard cable to use.Guys I'm not looking for the calculation - it really doesn't need to be as complicated as you're making it soundOur engineers rarely fit cable - but when they do they are told the phase (single or three) of the supply and the wattage the equipment will require. From that they need to know what size cable they require for the job. The length of cable they use is usually two meters max.
Let's hope there are no environmental factors to consider, or they may just have to ask an Electrician what to do againHonestly, they know the voltage, they are told the power demands, an engineer absolutely should know what standard cable to use.

*snigger*

resistivity of whatever material of the conductor doesn't do anything for the OP cable sizing

It sounds increasingly like these guys are engineers in job title only and are actually more akin to mechanical fitters or something![]()
