Basically i brought two of these for my car:

http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/ultimate-501t10194-watt-ultra-xenon-white-p-1684.html

On that page, it says "WARNING Because the bulbs are Metal please make sure you do not push the bulb to far into the holder as this can cause your Fuse to blow"

Well, without reading that i pushed it in and blew my car fuse. Getting a spare pack of fuses i tried again and i pushed it in gently until it lighted up. It did :D and when i tried to put it back into the shell of where it would go the holder pushed it in and again blew my car fuse.

Can anyone suggest another way how i can get around this? I dont want to make holes in the bulb holder as when i was the car, water will leak in.

Can a mod help me move this?

Also i was thinking, as i dont know anything about electrical - if i cut some of the edge off, is it going to ruin everything?

You'd be far better off with the plastic ones tbh. I've never had a problem with those, metal bodies just seems stupid to me.

What a thoroughly crap design. The metal sleeve is required to heatsink the LED, but having exposed metal right next to the contacts is just ridiculous.

I'd go for a small band of heatshrink tubing around the base of the housing. Don't cover up too much of the metal surface though or the LED will overheat.
