Hi all

This morning on my P reg Corsa the electrical fault light came on every time I was stopped and then within 5 seconds of moving again it went off, even if I was moving slowly it went off. Any ideas?

Thats the alternator not charging the system up due to low revs at lights.

When the revs rise then the charge increases.

Well, it sounds like it anyhow.

But I tried sitting idle and when the light came on put my foot on the accelerator up till about 3000rpm and it still stayed on will is this because I wasn’t in gear and actually moving?

Not sure, it's the only thing i can think of though.

Sitting at the lights and revving your engine might just not be enough whereas actually driving is giving you enough juice.

Check fan belt and tension, also the earth lead from the alternator.

Well I changed the fan belt a few weeks back because the revs were dropping when all my electrics were on (lights, blower, etc.) but it never cured it revs still drop. Also I had my wipers on and lights this morning as the weather bad...
