Electrician advice

I am a retired electrician and some of the advice given to you would frighten me.
Yes you can do your own plumbing, as all water can do is drown you and you can see it coming.
Electricity you cant see but it can be deadly if you get it wrong.
In a bedroom you do not normally have that many sockets so a 16a mcb will suffice, in the main room you tend to have not only sockets on the ring main but spurs of them as well, so a 32amcb is normal.

First off, based on this thread, I am not going to now decide to rewire my house single-handedly or start randomly switching MCBs. In fact, I may never even tamper with them, if after all my electric items have arrived and are working fine. However, its just nice to know how things work and what I might try doing should things not work out. In fact, its quite possible that if the MCB keeps tripping, then I may well just get a leccy in.

If someone on this thread says, "if you slice your wrists with razorblade, you will bleed to death", it does not mean that we will see people start to test the theory out. This is just a forum. Thats all it is, where we discuss things, which may not even be true. It is upto the reader to use common sense.

In the main room, I have 6 double sockets + 1 spur.
In the bedroom, I have 6 double sockets.
I watched as the wires (for the sockets) were slid into walls, etc. The wires, in the walls were not insulated in any extra material. The only thing insulating the wires are their own rubber membrane and a few cms of cement/plaster.

I intend to have a lot of electric gadgets and rather than use 6 in 1 plug in sockets, I would rather plug directly into the socket.

Even regulations specify that a 'competent' person can do the simple stuff with regards to electrics and even gas work (as explained earlier in the 'Kitchen buying and fitting' thread).

Im pretty sure that those who dont know how to build PCs think exactly the same way - if I open up the case, it will blow up!

Oh and this one is for Motorola

For starters the laws have recently just changed and it is now illegal for homeowners to do any major electrical work! (Messing about with the CCU is certainly not 'simple stuff')

Also comparing messing around with dangerous household 'Low voltage' supplys and working inside a 12v DC computer is absurd
One can very easily kill you or burn you house down if you do something REALLY stupid like

Would it be better to replace the 16A MCB with a 32A MCB?
 The other is practically impossible to kill you due to it being 12v DC :p

But hey I don't care, electrocute yourself or burn your house down and kill your entire family! No skin off my nose!!!

Sunama I was not trying to frighten you, both my upstairs and down stairs ring mains are on 32a mcb's.
I forgot to mention about the change in the electrical regulations but M0t0r0la picked up on that. I have seen the results a few times of amateur electricians getting hurt, is it worth it?.
