Going on holiday on Sunday but have a question about the electricity over there.

I'm told the place I'm staying has "220 volts, Continental Europe type adapters will be required for UK visitors"

2 Questions:

Where's the best place to buy these adapters, and:

Would it be safe for me to take a 4-way gang and plug this into the adapter so that I can then plug in upto 4 british-plugged items (phone, camera, laptop) into the 4-way gang? Or is this entering dangerous territory?

1. Dunno about the best place in terms of cost - but you can get them at the airport usually or at any high st electrical/electronics/hardware store.

2. I did that at a LAN in sweden. Dunno about safety but it seemed to work alright ;) IANAE.

1. Tesco
2. Yes it's fine as long as they aren't high wattage appliances.

As stated but be careful on your total wattage. Some countries (india) and especially cheap flats/villas only have a 5 amp or 1250W supply to a socket so they can be very easily overloaded compared to the 13 amp or 3250W sockets we are used to at home.

LOL!!!

Y'know, I deliberately put "gang" in case some smart ass said "It's not an adapter, it's called a gang" :p

Cheers for replies, like I said, only things going in will be phone to charge it, laptop to charge it and camera battery to charge it, so nothing 'too' demanding, but probably all together on an evening for an hour or two.
