Electrics - Adding another socket to the conservatory

The mrs and I just had one of those "I told you I wanted it done this way" conversations which never took place. We are a few weeks from getting the conservatory floor done so trying to work out where to run cables etc.

The setup in the conservatory is as follows:

The power comes from a spur off a double socket in the house to the conservatory via a fused socket (with switch). This then goes to a double socket which is then spurred off to another socket on the far side of the room.

I'd like to add a single socket on the wall where the purple X is for a TV.

I have read conflicting ideas of how to achieve this. One idea is that I can add as many spurs as I want as there is a 13A fuse to protect the circuit.

How would you guys go about this?

Extending the ring would have been better but you'll have not problem fitting a socket were you want you'll just be limited to 13a over the 3 sockets.

From a switch fcu you should only have one single socket really as there is a potential to load up to 13a from a socket say like from a heater and someone use another socket for a toaster or washing machine. This will trip that circuit.

what your suggesting would make the fcu redundant as it is only there to allow more than one point to be spurred off the ring(and required by regs if having more than one point). I see your point but its unlikely a toaster or washing machine will be in his conservatory. 13a should be ok for a conservatory.

How difficult would it be to get it properly wired off the main fuse box?

FWIW in a previous house, my neighbours used to have a washing machine and tumble dryer in their conservatory.

Spur off a spur off a spur off a spur?

Only allowable if you change the single switched socket to a 13A switched connection unit and connect the rest of your circuit to the outgoing 13A side.

So I expect I'll have the following in the conservatory, it won't be used frequently and unlikely everything will be switched on at the same time:

- TV, Chromecast, Sky box
- Heater
- Sonos
- Table lamp
- The odd phone being charged etc

Would I spur off the double socket or off the fused socket?

The only debatable item on there is the heater, everything else is (relatively) low load. It's not an elegant approach, but it's perfectly functional :). As mentioned above, make sure from a wiring perspective the new socket is after the FCU.

Remember that these will be classed as being outside your house for insurance purposes.
