electrocuted by power shower

Is this the post a big lie? The notion of rubber soled shoes protecting you from shocks is a myth.

One more thing; why can't people differentiate between 'bought' and 'brought'? It's not that confusing. Sorry.... :(

Presumably you're not a trained electrician. I'd suggest you get one in for something like an electric shower before you really do kill yourself.

You should also have a circuit breaker fitted to an electric shower circuit, not just a fuse as they will react instantly to any problems which could save your life.

Yeah I think your right ....its late ;)

I believe its because it takes the shortest route to ground which is across your shoulders ,think it was covered when I did a first aid course ,yep I know all about health and safety :D
as has been said it's the amps that kill you not the voltage. you may need to get a qualified electrician in to check over your installation to make it legal other wise H&S may want to talk to you about culpable manslaughter at a later date ;)

Yes thats what it says in the dictonary, however you know as well as i do that its common place to use the word to describe getting a shock of electric and surviving and to say otherwise is just being petty and picking holes :P

It's commonplace to misuse a lot of words. Doesn't mean people shouldn't be pulled up for it.

You were very lucky.

Just bear in mind, that the shortest route through your body has probably damaged a few muscles and internal tissue.

Imagine passing a high voltage/current through a piece of steak oon your chopping board. Wherever it travels, it burns (or cooks). That is what it has done to your tissue, so expect it to be a bit sore (and possibly not repair properly if it has jumped across cartilage or joints) - Even if it had traversed across your heart and you had lived, you would probably have damaged it quite a bit (and usually killed off some muscle)

Sorry to cheer you up so much, but you are lucky to be alive. And shock tacktics are sometimes necessary when people think they can mess with something so powerful without thinking and live.

I did not want to touch any of it really but could not find a plumber to do the job ,phoned up loads !
Also they are now not aloud to touch the electrics so I would then have the trouble of finding an electrician !

If the shower is higher rated doesn't the electrical work have to be signned off by an electrician part-p qualified - not doing this could cause you many problems, death being one of them.

You were VERY lucky, power showers are very high current appliances that should, ideally, only be worked on by qualified professionals.

Even if you feel fine you should still go and get checked out, I won't go in to graphic details but the damage isn't always finished when you let go of the cable.

A very lucky man, when drunk i messed around with house supply before it got to the meter and fuse box, a quick sharp jab of 240v Ac really made me think twice about being a tit ever again, i still get a tight chest when i get weary around mains supply now.

False, I received an electric shock from a direct mains feed (bare wires hanging from a wall) when i was about 8 or so, survived without a scratch.

Same. My arm ached sooo much after it tho. I didn't know that it would hurt me at the time. It was just a buzzing wire on my hall carpet. :(

If you pull away from a live wire quick enough you CAN survive but if you hold on to it your a gooooonnnnneeeeeeerrrrrrr. You lucky sonama b*tch!

I thought all electric works needs to be done with a QUALIFIED engineer with the special piece of paper from the government allowing you to do such things?
