‘Elephants Dream’ is the result of almost a year of work, a project initiated and coordinated by the Blender Foundation. Six people from the Blender user/development community were selected to come over to Amsterdam to work together on an animated short movie, utilizing Open Source tools only.

The download is 425mb or 815mb (!) depending on what quality you go for...gonna download it myself later, but thought i'd share it with you guys/gals as well.

Looks good, but i have no idea what it'll be like.

Ah, oops: http://www.elephantsdream.org/ or see below!

looks interesting,, downloading now.

I had a play with blender..... maybe 5 years ago now (?) and it was a dog back then - though I didn't really know what I was doing to be fair - I presume it's changed a lot since then.

Well, I am put off instantly by the pretentious and pointless use of the word ‘utilizing’ but I will give it a go.

Just watched it and, omfg. Animations were awesome. Didn't like Emo's lip synch or voice acting but that was the only downside besides the running length.

Looked amazing, though a little wierd for what was going on, and let down by quite horrid voice acting.

Can someone explain the difference between the big file and the small file please?

I have a nice crt which can display very high res's. Would the bigger file look better quality than the smaller one?

I downloaded the smaller file for my my 19" tft was perfect. But I did download the bigger one too, just seemed like the file was corrupt-ish. (Jumpy in places.)

Can anyone comfirm this?

The bigger file is at 1080 HD resolution, so it's far better quality than the smaller file, but unless you've got a monitor that has a resolution of 1920x1080 then you can't get the most out of it.

big file is not corrupt but higher resolution and require more processing power to decode otherwise it skips frames.
