Elise S2 - Is HGF still an issue?

That's so retarded

Go play with your Pulsar

Calling me a retard doesnt make the car look better. You can call me or my opinion retarded all you want but its still my opinion.

So if the Bugatti Veyron was actually a Vauxhall Veyron (but otherwise identical in every way) and only cost a tenner... your telling me you wouldnt buy one because it's a Vauxhall?

Id personally go for a pretty base spec Elise, enjoy that for a while then if you have any serious engine trouble the idea of dropping 'the other' K series engine in could be quite appealing ;)

Honda K20 in an Elise would make for a weapon to trouble the 240bhp Exige S keeping with the pure NA stuff something like a lotus is crying out for.

Its the badge on the front.

I said made. It was designed mainly by lotus and was manufactured entirely by Lotus at their Hethel plant. Within Lotus it is known as a "Lotus Type 116".

I came very close to buying an NA VX220. Fact is, the badge put me off. I'm a terrible brand whore and everyone knows what a Lotus is. I have owneed, and still do, Vauxhalls, and wouldn't have a VX 'sports car'.

I'm happy, I adore my car and wouldn't change it for anything less than a 355.

What really ammuses me about this is it's not like Lotus is even a prestige brand.

If we were talking about a Ferrari it would be different, but when I see a Lotus in the street I dont give it a second glance. Just another car

You lack blouse potatoes so I have no need to be concerned :p
:D

It's not neccessarily a 'prestige' brand, however it does have the motorsport pedigree. Everyone knows the name and associates it with sports cars.

Theres an 03 plate 220 turbo down the road from me for sale at £16K. Personally, I'd go for this over the lotus (unless Ih ad Exige money).

And I hate Vauxhall! Good job its just in name only :)

That's the one I missed out on :( I was all set to drive to Pembroke the other day when I found out it was sold.

A couple of months back, a Vauxhall dealer offered me a delivery mileage Turbo for £17k. It was yellow though.

Mucho fed up today, missed out on a VXR with ohlins that I was supposed to get tomorrow. Guy selling can't afford to clear the finance. I am gutted.

Dodgy liners are not the primary cause of HGF of the K series.

It's rapid heating-up/cooling down which causes metal to fatigue and warp.

I have said this before to much disagreement but it's because the temp reader/thermometer is on the inlet to the engine. So, by the time this receives the signal to let water into the engine the engine is roasting.

This is brilliant on cold starts as the engine warms up VERY quickly and is nice and lovely to drive.

However, if you are ragging it about ALL the time then this is bad. The block gets real hot, then a lod of water comes banging in cooling it far to quickly.

Repeat many times and the problems start to occur.

I really love the Elise. Really love it. And on the whole hate Vauxhalls.

However, I would be so split between an S2 and VX220.

I would have to drive both to make up my mind as it's a pure 50/50 split.

Also, I believe later Elises use the Celica 1.8vvvvvtttiiiiiii engine.
