Elite Dangerous - how is your graphics card handling this game and at what settings?

I play at 3440x1440 and a single TITAN X laps it up with all but supersampling enabled. Incredible looking

They're selling through Steam now? That's great news. Should mean a load of new players in the galaxy.

Yeah, that's where I picked it up and have to say so far I'm loving it although as a new player it's a bit intimidating to find your way at first but that's part of what makes it compelling! Learning something new.

Good practice for Star Citizen too when that releases!

Nah don't wait buy one m8!!!!
Is this game any good? Never tried it

I have to say I'm loving it so far as it reminds me of my favourite games of all time...the Wing Commander Series...

Fantastic memories and it's been a long time since we've had a decent space fighting sim...I'm also an early backer of Star Citizen but that is taking ages to come out and I don't have the time to invest in each mini-release...

So for the next few months, Elite Dangerous is going to be my weekend and evening entertainment...

Give it a go, it's on Steam now...

And yes, I have to wait to see what the r9 390X brings to the table, although I'm mostly an Nvidia user...I'm open minded about my graphics card...I did swear though that I wouldn't buy another graphics card until they move off 28nm dies though...so might be waiting a while

780ti sli @4k, everything on max with the exception of aa, runs nice and smooth, and both of my cards only sit at about 60% usage, i had to put vsync on though as it stuttered quite a bit with it off.

If you like endless space no objective games yes. I love it because there is no mission and you go and do whatever you want, fight, trade, explore. It does take a bit of getting used to. But when you wing up and and go fighting, it's a great laugh. Or even wing up and go trading, when in anaconda's you earn a nice bit from the other people trading too.

With a single 980 @ 1440p mine runs very smooth with high detail. It does a get a bit of jerk now and again passing through systems, but I'm not sure if this is server issues. I've also noticed that some planets on approach, when I'm a fair distance out, appear earth like, but then suddenly change to something different as I get a bit closer. Odd.

I've also discovered that I must keep Supersampling at x1.0. If I bump it up to 1.5 (which makes no difference to me visually), the game runs fine, but my GPU fan goes nuts and gets up to over 60%, which is pretty loud on a reference card. After a couple of hours, I'm assured of a crash, given its bumping 80 degrees constantly. No idea why this happens.

780 Lightning running at 1080p with everything* maxed and it's fine.

*Supersampling at 1 only.
I watched a Titan X owner bump the supersampling up and even that started to struggle and glitch, so hell knows what you need to max the SS out and remain stable...

I did that on my 980 lol as at 4x dropped to 15fps in space God knows what it would have gone to docked.

Cool I'll give it a try defo want to play star citizen but I'll wait for that to be released fully.
Fair play I couldn't wait for the 390X looking forward to some specs sometime this century :D

I had an issue with my 980 at 1080.

It would crash (black screen and a Direct3D error) when in Hyperspace. This started after 1.203 patch.

I opened a ticket with Frontier with my findings and they said it would be worked on.

Basically my factory clocked Inno3d needed to be under clocked to 1200 MHz for it to be stable (still stable and has not crashed since)

This, it seems, has fixed it a good number of 970 and 980 users.

Set SS via Gaming Experience

first you will need to add game and you then get full SS with hardly any FPS hit in game. Doing it in game gives huge fps hit. Doesn't work for surround setups ATM.

If the option doesn't come up activate it in Nvidia control panel

I had that on an AMD card once all cards have wildly different OC capabilities if it cannot manage factory OC RMA it back. Seen a few posts about Elite needing downclocking on 980s, don't forget although Elite not hugely graphical it still puts your card under huge load. My 980 manages huge stable OC and never crashes.
