The old versions are available here iirc? http://www.eliteclub.co.uk/download/ (they cost £5 according to the webby) and ian bells site has supposed links to various versions of the original game http://www.iancgbell.clara.net/elite/game.htm

"You" was referring to "the people on OcUK (that come out with these sorts of things)" really. Perhaps not an amazingly great choice of words, but that's really not the important in the grand scheme of things.
