So I have a launch day console and wanna "upgrade" to an Elite.

So...
How much is my launch day premium worth?
How easy is it to get the cable to transfer data from premium to elite?
 
a) Around £140.
b) You should be able to get a transfer cable from MS, check the Xbox website.

When the Elite was first released in the UK, some retailers gave a 30 day grace limit for you to be able to get the transfer cable, transfer your goodies then take the Premium in for the trade in value.
However, I don't think they are still doing this.
 
i transferred my savegames and stuff using the memory card i already had. Of course you cant copy any large files across though.
 
You will only get £140 if you sell on an auction site or to a friend. You won't see any shop offer you that much as a trade in.

I'm still waiting for mine since September. Fortunately i was able to borrow one from Tobes on here. I would hope the situation has improved since then, as i don't think they were prepared for the demand.

The transfer cable really is the way to go, as some save game saves cannot be moved by a memory card.

Got offered £145 from one well known store and £135 from another well known store yesterday.
 
I upgraded to an Elite a couple of weeks ago and joined the AVForums "bike" where a couple of kind forum members have donated their migration cables to pass around. I got mine in about a week from putting my name on the list. It's much quicker than waiting the 3 months or so that MS are taking to send the cables out.
