Happy new Year all.

Right, straight to the question. I have a mate that is thinking of trading in his standard 360 for an Elite because of the HDMI cable.
Will the Elite graphically look better than a standard 360? He uses it vis component, on a Samsung 32" HDTV
Him buying this may rest on the responses I get on here.

Thanks in advance

You will get varying responses but they will look rather similar. HDMI doesn't equate to omgwtfb&q graphics, and you'll be hard pressed to tell them apart. However you do get audio+video through a single cable and it is digital so that alone makes it more worthwhile.

Also the Elite obviously has a bigger hard disk, which is primed for the Euro Video Marketplace.

Doesn;t sound very helpful, but whether it looks better or not will entirley be dependent on his TV as oppposed to the 360. Some people's TVs have better VGA than Component, others have Better HDMI and any combination in between.

If he purely wants it just for HDMI connectivity then it is not really worth it imo, unless he plans to use the larger HDD etc that he is inadvertently paying for as well.

What kind of trade in would he get? i.e. how much would he have to pay out of his pocket. Plus does he need to free up the component ports on his TV (if so then he has to buy the Elite I guess).

Why trade in for an Elite, unless he wants the 120gig HD too? The current Pros are using the same motherboard with the HDMI socket, and i'm sure the latest runs of Arcade 360's are too.

I think he just wants it because it's the latest version out, he already has every other console.

Will pass on your views to him later tonight when he is on COD4

On my 32inch samsung i preffer VGA over the HDMI. I think it is a nicer picture tbh.
He could just wait till it RRoD's on him, when he takes it back to the store he will get an HDMI standard anyway.
