I've just spent an excrutiating almost 2hrs (it felt much longer believe me) watching the film that has pushed the reigning boredom champion (PJ's King Kong) out of podium position.

I was expecting so much from the man who brought us 'Almost Famous', 'Fast Times At Ridgemont High' and 'Singles'... but oh boy.

I don't think this dire movie was helped by the fact that I'd watched Garden State again a few weeks ago, and everything that Garden State does right, this abysmal piece of sappy trash does wrong.

Orlando Bloom displayed the acting flair of a yew tree and Kirsten Dunst wasn't much better with her on again/off again southern accent... I can't even begin to vent my speen over this dire piece of tripe but let me leave you with this.

The best thing about Elizabethtown was Alec ******* Baldwin.

I watched it for Kristen Dunst but even her and Cameron Crowe couldn't save this. It has lots of similiarities to Almost Famous in terms of style but i coud not help but compare this film to Garden State by Zach Braff (of Scrubs). Same kind of story, main character goes back home for a parent's Funeral and meets some old friends and a girl. The girl is odd in a way but adorable, both falls in love for each other in the few days together.

Cameron Crowe is famous for selecting good music for his movies, but i think he's dropped the ball on this one as I don't remember a single song from it. I prefer Garden State a lot more, Elisabethtown has the right idea but the casting of Orlando Bloom is a terrible decison !

i really liked the film, great soundtrack and full of good songs, not the best film by a long shot, but i really enjoyed it

This movie couldn't be more overcasted and more boring even if it was done by Jarmush.
What is it with Kirsten Dunst and half closed eyes in this movie. She looks like she has mild case of narcolepsy and is about to colapse any minute with that dentally challenged smile still on her face most of the time... Does she have some sort of face nerve paralysis or something?
