Elysium or World War Z?

I actually quite liked World War Z.it exceeded my expectations as I never thought I would like it.

Elysium is one of the stupidest films I have ever had the misfortune of seeing at the cinema :(

Best recent SciFi film I have watched is Star Trek Into Darkness.

World War Z ended up being better, and more tense, than it ever deserved to considering its complete abandon of the supposed source material.

Elysium is heavy handed nonsense populated with the odd impressive shot.

I preferred World War Z.
Elysium had great potential, but was seriously let down.

Though neither are that great.

add my 2p.

Both were a huge let down but of the two...

Elysium was marginally, fractionally, barely better.

The unrated version of WWZ improves it over the theatrical release, which was clearly cut to get a lower certificate.

Elysium had a great movie in there somewhere, but they totally screwed the pooch. Shame.

WWZ was a production travisty, the whole airplane ( yea right), going down and ending up in Wales?!?!? just terrible, movie didn't know what it was half way through.

Elysium is basically the scrapped plans for a Halo movie and what was left over.

Did you miss the part where it was on approach to a welsh airport?

Seen both now, had low expectations and wwz came out as the better film for me.

Bad post on my part, yes I know that the plane was intentionally going there, but only those two surviving that crash....yesh.

And having to go to Wales ( at that point literally the other side of the world) lol, just stupid, but from that point is where the entire movie was re-written by the new director and why it was postponed for a year.

World War Z gets a lot of negative reviews on here. As a stand alone film is it really that bad? Or is it because the adaptation of the book is bad i.e. the book was just better?

Of those that watched it and hadn't read the book... do you think it is as bad as people say?

Genuinely curious. I've read the book but not seen the film.
