I'm currently using Live Mail, but want to change to something that will allow me to edit ICS calendars as well as be more effieceint in the handleing of emails. I've tried Thunderbird yet agian with lightning added for the built in calendar option but even with new themes it still looks dated, even though it is a powerful client.

Anybody got any recommendations for a suitable replacement to Live Mail on Windows 7?

Hmm Outlook 07 possibly. I guess you don't wanna be paying for it though.

Outlook 2007 is nice and I do have access to it, but it is quite cumbersome for my needs. It also doesn't allow access to writing to ICS files hosted online as far as I am aware.

Thunderbird is fine in terms of what it does, I just don't like the interface and I haven't found a theme to make it any better.

What kinda interface are you looking for? May be worth looking into their own forums and put a request in.

Something that doesn't look archaic or ugly. I realise that its just an email client, but with how firefox/ie8 look now and the MS mail clients, it just seems a little odd that they haven't changed the look of thunderbird for quite a few years. Even the new v3 beta looks the same. My main gripe with thunderbird is the fact it doesn't intergrate with Windows Contacts. I don't want to have to re type my contacts per program and I haven't found an extension that allows thunderbird to pull the data from contacts in to its own address book.
