Worst 'I nearly got scammed' thread ever.

It doesn't even ask you to click on a link to change your password. The link is just for tips on creating a secure password.

It's either a really bad scam, or (more likely) it is a genuine email from Ebay, and you need to check your purchase history.

if you click the www.google.co.uk link in my first post it gores to www.overclockers.co.uk

if someone hovers over the link with a cursor and looks at the bottom of their browser window it should tell them where that link is really going without the need to click it

I bet I could make www.0verclockers.co.uk though if someone didn't already ^_^

Scam eBAy emails are usually sent to 'Dear User'. If it says your real username then this is probably a real email.

Still, there's an EASY way to check. Open a new browser window, manually enter ebay.co.uk and sign into your account to check the messages within. If you fear your machine has been compromised try using a mobile phone browser or friends machine.

Typing it into the address bar is not always a 100% safe method. A malicious program could have changed your hostfile and set www.ebay.co.uk to go somewhere else

Seemed pretty legit to be honest.

Obviously check the links before clicking them, but if it is a scam it's fairly well done.
