to start this is for emails that are hosted with the great vidahost, and the program i'm using in thunderbird

i've got almost 20 email addresses for various work reasons, e.g. info@ theboss@ jobs@ quotes@, and for multi domains, which is becoming a massive pain to organise as i've got atm 4 different devices which access the emails. looking for advice on how to reset up my emails so that the settings allow for the following, and i DON'T LOSE ANY EMAILS.

i have the following which access the same emails

main desktop pc, laptop, android mobile, friends pc

what i'd ideally like to be able to do is have it so any pc can create a folder, put emails in it, delete and reply, and if effected on any other pc so the folders and contents are synced too.

would this be possible?

if not then i will explain what i'd like in further detail in a following post.

You need the server set as IMAP, this is what I would do if I was you.

Sign up to the free Google Apps here - http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html

Once you've gone through all that enable 2 step verification.

Enable as it says here - http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=184711

Setup on your account as it says here - http://support.google.com/accounts/...age=guide.cs&guide=1056283&answer=185839&rd=3

Then you'll want to Enable IMAP - https://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=77695&rd=2

Here is a list of supported clients and configs - https://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=75726&rd=2

Then sign into your clients using the application-specific passwords. Here is a guide on how to set it up - http://support.google.com/accounts/...uide=1056283&page=guide.cs&answer=185833&rd=3

You'll be able to add different domains and user accounts for each email in the Google Apps dashboard. :)

Google Apps might be able to do this for you and they also help with migration over to their service (though I have never done it). You can use IMAP with them since it works like Gmail does so all your devices can see all the mail if one device deletes a mail then the others can't see it.

All you have to do is add Google server destinations to the MX Records in cPanel, really simply and the changes are pretty much instant.

cool will have a look into this tomo then.

will this mean it'll be best to use gmail app on my phone in future over the rubbish looking k9? if so what about when ics is out for sgs2, will the same app still work o does ics have a better email app? i don't actually know how good the gmail app is, however i do know the other apps i've used have been pants on any android phone, however on touchpad for instance it's a delight to use.

just to also confirm this will keep the folders still working ok? including existing folders i currently use? and the folders will be synced between device? so i assume it's all stored online just ilke a website and the devices are simply accessing the emails as opposed to right now it would appear it's being stored on my main pc,

I do the same, but I have Gmail set up on my phone as an Exchange account rather than through IMAP. Exchange mode has better push email support than IMAP does.

For the record Vidahost look like they support IMAP so you wouldn't have to switch to Google Apps (Google Apps is great but might be a pain to move to it if you're already set-up). I think it's the same server address, just switch to IMAP from POP3.
