OK, I've just spent half an hour on the phone with Three trying to sort out why I can't send mails over their 3G network and I'm more confused than ever. Hoping someone on here has a similar setup as me that works for them.
I have two email addresses, a personal one and a work one.
Personal address:- This is setup fine and works OK over wifi using my own smtp server mail.xxxxxx.com. However, I can receive mails when on 3G but can't send any. Three have informed me I need to use their own SMTP server to do this (smtp-mbb.three.co.uk). This works fine when I'm on 3G but when on wifi it doesn't work. Three have told me I need to manually change the SMTP server depending on the connection I have. This is a right pain as I am in and out of wifi/3G all of the time so would need to change this 15-20 times a day. Surely there is a way to have one SMTP server for both connections. Anyone else managed this?
Work email:- We have an Exchange server that requires SSL, so if I have to use Three's SMTP server on 3G, how the hell is this meant to work? Anyone else out there using Three to use their work email and how have you got it setup to do this?
I know Three provide a push email service that would do all of this, but its not compatible with my handset (HTC Desire).
So if anyone can advise on how I can get this to work without having to constantly be changing settings I'd appreciate it. Failing that, is there another push mail service I can use to simplify this. I can't believe how difficult this is, had an E71 until last week and Nokia's push mail service dealt with all of this for me.
