Embarrassing 3dmark06 scores on new build.

Don't know what's going on I play Crysis on a very high custom cfg @720p at a steady 30fps. Just installed 3dmark for giggles, first score....around 4k :confused:

Spec:
6600 @ 3.2
4gb ram @ 800mhz
8800 BFG GTX
Raptor 10k as primary drive
Vista x64 home premium

Should I be crying?

What motherboard and what PCI-E slot have you installed it in?

Did you install all the motherboard drivers?

3dmark reports my HDD as null

Everything's on default.

4505k that round, jesus. Going to try reinstalling. Pretty sure I installed all mobo drivers.

I got a score of 9k, and i have less spec than you :S (look in sig)
Try re installing the drivers for Nvidia, and the motherboard.
Do a stress test on the GPU, to make sure its fuctioning properly, if the GPU stress test fails, take it back.
Do a CPU stress test, make sure the CPU is fine.
there are RAM tests aswell if you like.
Try 3dMark06 once you have installed drivers again, and have stress tested. If you still get 4k, then there is a problem, i don't know anyone with a q6600 and a GTX with anything below 10k ish.

overclock on cpu is prime stable 8hrs.
All steam games run at 1920x1200, maxed, 90fps solid.

Corsair HX 620W.

Just ran rthdribl 1.2 @ 1920x1200 / multi-sampling x16 - 29fps

vista: 5.9 performance across the board.

I get 12k with everything at stock on Vista 32

Not installed any mobo drivers as vista seemed to do it.

With my CPU @ 3.4 and the GTX @ 634/1033 i get 13801

Have you got both PCI-E power plugs plugged into the card?

Reduce the clock speed to 2.4 (9x266). Ran 3dmark again:

3DMark Score 11679 3DMarks

SM 2.0 Score 4747 Marks

SM 3.0 Score 5214 Marks

CPU Score 3456 Marks

This is my first build/first overclock, can't see why lowering the cpu has improved the score. Running at 3.2 (8x400) was stable in prime95 and had good temps.

Any advice would be great

What happens to the pci-express frequency as you overclock? Try and lock it at 100mhz.

It's locked to 100. I've loosened the ram timings to 5-5-5-23 (from 12 - 2x2Gb Black Dragons).

All the thermal threading options are turned off. Only thing I haven't tweaked is the NB voltage which is set to auto. Should it be 1.25 or 1.40 or higher?

try set the pcie frequency to 105MHz, that sometimes helps.
