Embarrassing Fat Bodies - Ch4

Why someone would humiliate themselves on national tv like that I don't know. I know the NHS is a bit slow but when you've been a whale for 10 years what's a few more months? I have to agree about not being a doctor, working with animals I have never seen anything as grotesque as I have with those humans, eugh.
 
Gaining weight is ridiculously easy. I presume by your post you're talking about gaining weight while working out - that's muscle building to gain weight.

Just go to the fish and chip shop every day for a month and we'll weigh you then.
 
What amazes me is, these patients avoid going to their own doctor for years on end, but they are at the right place at the right time to go and see a doctor on tv in front of millions of viewers.

Just doesn't make sense.
 
On one hand I think that it's their fault as every pound gained is thru eating but on the other hand they do suffer from an addiction to eating.

I don't suffer from it but I guess it is the same as smoking or drinking, it is an addiction that is very hard to stop.

That is why a gastric band is a good idea for very large people as they physically can't eat large portions.
 
I completely fail to understand the people who go on this show, what goes through their minds?

Patient: "Oh no! My problem is so embarrassing I cannot go and see my GP in the privacy of their office"

Channel 4: "Too embarrassed to see your GP, why not share your infected mole's hole with a few million viewers! And, remember, if any of your workmates miss it first time round they can watch it again (and again) on 4oD!"

Patient: "Well, gosh, under those circumstances it won't be embarrassing at all!"
 
Also once the weight goes on, general movement becomes a lot more difficult because you're hefting around all that excess weight.
But at the same time, the amount of calories you burn just sustaining yourself and day-to-day moving increases. The fatter you get the more calories you need to eat to stay fat/keep getting fatter.

Imo it hard work getting extremely obese.

I've no idea, but I'd be interested to find out if that relationship is directly proportional. Any fitness freaks like to enlighten us?
 
Rubbish. Eat less, do more and educate yourself. It really isn't hard if you have a modicum of intelligence.

Could you share your story on how much you or someone you are very close to has lost? I'd love to hear how easy it was.

I'm not defending fat people, they DO do it to themselves. But it is not as black and white as stop eating and move more. That's boiling something far more complicated down to its two most basic ingredients.

I never got absolutely massive, but I wasn't small.

I've lost 65lb, from about 35% bodyfat 231lb (BMI of 35ish I think) to 166lb, 14-16% bodyfat at 5'8".

High protein, low carb diet. Excercised more.

That's true to some extent, I don't think basal metabolic rate would change that drastically though. The tissues that need energy to survive would be the excess skin and a bit more muscle that develops to carry the extra weight. I think you could get pretty damn fat over a long enough period whilst maintaining the same calorific surplus.
 
I'm intrigued to see how fat you could get someone before their increase in BMR stops any further weight gain now!
