Emerging IT/AV technologies

Do you have any recommended overviews to read / watch? My brain has been fried with ISPs trying to tell me that being able to adjust bandwidth on a portal means I have an SD-WAN. Whereas in my head SDN is more like what I do in AWS to hook different services together.

IOT & BYOD definitely would be my go to. Security and support is a major concern for both.

IoT is going to be heavily dependant on networks, more bandwidth yet again, power. Integration with bms etc etc
Cloud based learning meaning taking the whole learning experience online - teaching, resources, assessment - the whole shebang. Google has revolutionised the way we teach with Google classroom and its free! As mentioned earlier - moocs are The in thing now and as someone said, the infrastructure at these places needs to be improved massively to support it.

I've heard from some schools how Google Classroom is amazing. Handing out Chromebooks to the kids and having homework on the cloud. It's just truly something else :p

Ah I am telling you. I can now mark homework and give feedback in minutes. Its a genuine game changer and I feel for the schools who aren't adopting it yet. A lot of them are tied in with MS deals which means they get sold the MS equivalent (One drive I think?) but its nowhere near as good. For pure flexibility and collaborative work its moved it to the next level.

Our school is doing a Chromebook pilot project this year which I am part of overseeing and its an absolute revelation to the kids who are using them. Just want to fast forward to next year where we can roll out to the whole school!

It is epicly powerful from what I've heard. A lot of customers at work are running with it and love it.
