Emigrating

As has previously been stated nurses are seriously under rated in this country, also how many foreign doctors do you think also use our NHS service for their training only to leave our shores when qualified !

If they're foreign (outside EU), then they'll pay around +£12,000 a year fees to the university they attend.

I have no real issue with the UK, I think it's a great place and I appreciate the opportunities I've been given by being brought up here. I've lived in a little rural town and a city, and both were lovely places - in fact, I could find positive things to say about pretty much anywhere I've been to in the country. However, I fully intend to spend my life travelling about and experiencing as many other cultures and countries as it's feasible to do - hence studying Chinese.

Wanting to leave for me has nothing to do with disliking the UK, just wanting to see all the other things that are out there. I might return to live here when I'm older, I might not - my parents spent their entire lives travelling, until I was born, and came back here to bring me up. I'll probably do something along those lines, but I don't much like to plan beyond tomorrow, so I couldn't possibly comment. At some point I guess I'll live in China, I'd equally like to return to and live in South East Asia for a while, but other than that, I could end up anywhere.

Just see where life takes me :)

("bloody hippy" :p)

Always thought of moving abroad, from really young America just seemed to be such a great place but having read things like the fact theres no NHS and things and its actually, or so i've heard hard to be granted citizanship there. Canada does sound like a nice place or austrailia but im still a few years from being qualified so i'm still just dreaming of the day i can plan to go.

It's a bit hard not to in General Discussion. It's full of people constantly running down the country I love, posting about poo (quite literally) and banging about how things are 'going down the pan' and how it 'never used to be like this' despite only being like 20 years old.

England is an absolutely beautiful country. It has everything - a decent climate (ok, so it rains. But it doesn't cover the entire country in snow for 6 months, we don't get hurricanes, we don't get huge droughts and famines, etc etc), it has beautiful scenery (no, not London), it has wonderful people (You just have to go and find them), plenty of opportunity for work, etc etc.

But no, people just run it down despite having no experience of anything other than their own town. Guess what? There is more to the UK than the dodgy area of Sheffield or whatever you (Using 'you' generally) live in. There are areas of the country that are stunning.

And guess what - the rest of the world isn't some Utopia. Other countries have many things just as bad as we do. Infact, most countries have other things that are even worse. Anyone been watching Long Way Down? Have you SEEN how people live in Africa? You reckon the UK is worse?

The UK is a fantastic country. If you don't like it, stop making so much noise about it and just leave.

Stop and actually THINK for once. THINK why the news is alive with stuff now it never used to be. Ever thought it could be becuase we live in a totally connected society? 'We never used to hear about this in 1980!' Well no of course you didnt becuase you didnt have the internet, 24/7 news channel and RSS feeds on your mobile. Society may change but the general issues and problems remain the same as they've ever been.

I reckon you are safer on the streets of this excellent country now than you've ever been. Chances are the IRA won't blow you up tommorrow. The Germans probably won't launch an air raid on London next week. The police won't beat you to death for pinching an apple like they may do in other countries. And no, people from other religions are not taking over either.

Is it any wonder I resort to sarcasm when replying to some of the threads in here? If you believed everything you read in General Discussion you'd be convinced we lived in a war torn country where random skinheads beat people up for a laugh every 30 minutes, where there are more Muslims than Christians and where discussing what happened in your work toilet is the most interesting thing in the world.

The UK does not suck - just a few areas of it do. Much like any country..

We've got our problems but everyone else has got more.

Lets draw parellels to cars then..

A Mondeo isnt that bad is it ? I mean it gets you from A to B in a reasonably comfy way so why change to, well lets say a BMW ??

Everyone is different Fox - different things make different people tick.

Give the OP some slack, its his perogative if he wants to move abroad
