When did it become impossible for me to play a retail game I registered on steam when I am offline with the disc in tray?

Is that not illegally preventing me use?

nope, still crashes for me... but I started playing it again anyway, just saving before + after every battle or large amount of building so when it crashes I don't lose everything. Am disappointed it's still not fixed :(

...but inbetween it crashes, awesome!
 
Hi guys,
I bought Empire TW yesterday, put the disc in tonight to install, it installed Steam - that's fine, but told me the servers were too busy and to try again later. I immediately tried again and it began downloading. But it is taking absolutely ages!

I don't think it has used the disc at all, it didn't even ask me for the second disc. I've been downloading for about 45 minutes or more at 400-700kbps and it's at 7% still! At this rate it wont be done until tomorrow morning!

How can I make it install the whole game from the discs and only then download the updates?
EDIT: nevermind, think I've figured it out, Steam is mental!

What fully star out swearys! me off is it doesnt just crash at random.... Have not played mine in a few months and am honestly not prepared to start again if my game keeps crashing when I hit turn 101 I think it is..... just as things really start getting interesting in my opinion

Is it any good - as in, does it work?

May get around to buying the game as it's around £15 now.

Although as Napoleon TW is due out in Feb and uses a "refined" version of the Empire engine I may not bother.

Actually what the hell am I thinking? Napoleon will probably have the same multiplayer feature so I'd be paying to play in the beta, oh well would still like to hear reports on the multiplayer aspect!

Just started replaying this game, but with a question.


Why do Gentlemen, Rakes and Religious units NEVER spawn for me? What's the trick to it?
How can I do it?

Churches will spawn religious units and schools will spawn gentlemen iirc, can't remember about rakes though, I never used any of them as I was busy launching vast Sweedish armies through Europe..

I have two schools built as well as two royal observatories, yet only one gentleman, two churches yet only one preacher.

I know those buildings are supposed to spawn them yet they just never seem to
