Meths in i was talking about being doubtful they will release the modding tools now they have gone down the dlc route not that they will try and sell an improved ai that way. I am just not convinced they are bothering that much with ETW anymore now that they have announced NTW and i think they would be a lot happier if ETW just went away rather then spend proper time fixing it.

Yeah I'm looking into getting them now. The reviews on the show mention that the battles aren't nearly as good as they are described in the books.
Just looking on the rainforest for a box set of all the books (save the hassle of getting them all individually) but can't find one

But you can get Audio books from a well known fruit based audio download service(get the full length unabridged versions) or just order all the books somewhere cheap. It may be worth just getting the first one to see if you like them, either Sharpes Rifles which is the first of the 20 or so original books or Sharpes Tiger the first of several prequels set in India.

I saw a box set with three of the books in the bum patting supermarket tonight.
Don't know how much the set was as I wasn't looking to buy it.
Sorry, I meant to type 'I wouldn't be surprised...' in my above post and wasn't taking issue with anything you'd said.
It's just that as I also own a PS3 and regularly check the PSN store I'm constantly amazed as what qualifies as paid for downloadable content. Some of the crap they churn out and expect customers to shell out for is mind boggling.
For example they've started releasing time saver packs which basically unlock all the content in a game to save you the hassle of playing it through to get the stuff. Why bother even buying the game then?
Also, games like Madden 09 had a mass of downloadable content released on the store in the same week the game hit the shelves (I think it was the same week anyway).
I just find it annoying that when I'm deciding whether I'll buy a game or not I now have to consider what the likelyhood is that the game will need patched straight away just to run properly and whether I'm buying a finished game or will have to pay for more content that should have been in the game in the first place.
That said, I've not spent much cash on DLC as I'd rather put the money towards a new game instead. Like RizlaKing said though, the worry is that this kind of marketing will kill off the mod community and what makes PC gaming so interesting.
I think he was after a box set of all the books(About 20 of them).

I think Napoleon Total War will be what Empires *should* have been. Just been reading about it in this issue of Pc Gamer. Seems to add a few features, and some graphical improvements. Maybe 1.4 will iron out some of the killer bugs..

I'll check in the supermarket for that box of 3, should give me a decent intro. Hopefully it's the India prequels as I think Obadiah Hakeswill is an awesome villain and it sounds like he's in all three of those books
NTW is a standalone game it is not an expansion for ETW and while it may be everything ETW was supposed to be if they do not sort out ETW i won't know as i won't be buying it. Right now my attitude to CA is like the old saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" no more of my money will be going to CA till they sort out ETW properly.

Anyone find Steam updating their copy of ETW tonight? 
.Yep you need to delete all your mods for 1.5 to work as keeping them won't get you past the splash screen. Being honest i am sick and tired of CA crapping on the modders who have served their games brilliantly over the years and won't buy any dlc they do as they promised to release full mod tools and went back on it once they realised people will pay for their creations. Being honest this will be the last time i buy a CA game because they really are treating people like dirt and the whole buy the units from the sf edition for £1.99 when those of us that preordered it paid £10 more for it is really taking the mick.
Does anyone with an ATI card have problems with AA working? According the ATI thread on the official forums, AA has not being working since Cat 9.6's. Ho hum It seems a tad flickery as well? Loving what I have seen so far though, no crashes or horror stories to report (yet).
