**EMPIRE TOTAL WAR**

Normal Empire comes in DVD case without Special Forces Units (half a dozon rubbish UU's)

Special Forces comes in a nicer box, with code to activate said Special Units via steam and a nice campaign map that for some reason shows Scotland, England-Wales instead of Britain... but anyway.

Anyone know (cos i cant work it out) how you get your trade ships on trade routes??

It says use your radar to find suitable routes or something like that. I cant figure out how to do it.

Steam = Lack of manual

you need to sail your trade ships to 'trade zones' for example off the coast of brazil then park them in the right spot and they start trading! To get their from Europe etc you need to use the transition zones that lets you sail between maps.

TBH Retail games these days = Lack of a manual, but + leaflet.

Played it all last night, where the time go! :o

I'm doing the road to independance campaign first and it's pretty cool, the idea of the proper storyline is a great one. Perhaps starts a little slow for seasoned TW players but it will be a fantastic tutorial for new players.

Still a few anoying AI problems that I'd hoped they would fix form when the demo was released though...

Random question I know, but do Australia and New Zealand feature in the Campaign mode? Where are the four naval trade zones situated around the globe?

Quick answer - they don't - they are not included on the campaign map.

Australia wans't settled until 1788 Zealand wasn't returned to by Cook until 1769 - so niether country are really applicable in E:TW's time line.

Did someone say expansion?!

My question is what's the deal with the connection areas. ie the Ivory coast area between Europe and India. Do you just sail through it, or is there something else to do there?

Reading the reviews, I'm a bit confused (because of cut scenes mentioned) about the main campaign:

Is the game campaig dynamic, half-dynamic, or is it scripted to follow a storyline?

On the one hand I read things like England being defeated and history playing out completely differently, on the other hand there's a story thread mentioned.

Could someone please enlighten me?

Oh, and I'm new to the series, so I haven't got any past experience to go by.

I think there is the Grand Campaign, which is dynamic, not scripted.

And they have then addded in the Road to Independence, thats like a big tutorial that eases you into the game, thats scripted and tells the story of USA.
