you keep basic salarys and bonuses separate because people often earn different salaries for the same job - sometimes it is simply more expensive to hire someone with a particular skill-set at a particular time, some people perform better


the fact that you're on call or that you've worked some more hours doesn't need to be kept secret though if it is paid at the same rate - the fact that some people do less of it is just how your business works, I'm sure there are lots of aspects to a senior persons role that a junior person doesn't do, it isn't a reason in itself for secrecy IMO
