Enable 840 evo Turowrite

Turbowrite is inherent hardware functionality of the drives. IIRC though you can increase the efficency of it slightly (EDIT: really slightly - its like 3%) with over-provisioning.

How do you do that, and is it worth it. Also would it work with RAID.

Edit: It seems you do it after drive initialisation, doubt it will work with RAID. It wouldn't make an difference anyway, I am going to be using a Ram Cache, moving the Users folder over to my old SSD and disabling virtual memory and hibernation.

No idea off the top of my head if it works with RAID at all, its done through the samsung magician software - it can have some mild to moderate benefits to increasing the SSD lifetime but does nothing for read performance and is a really really minor boost to write performance while costing you a few percent of disc space which personally I didn't consider a good trade off.

id never heard of it till now

ive messed around with overprovisioning and tbh I found it slowed performance slightly(in benchmarks anyway) so disabled it

Works like a caching system so should be bypassed for benchmark reads, maybe some controller overhead or something in benchmarks.

Looks like you need ~50% over provisioning to get a 10% increase in write speeds lol!
