Ok most if us know that disabling this, gives better performance. But why isn't they a option on the ccc driver software?
Do amd expect every user to understand they must regedit and disable it?

This one thing I don't understand, it would be better for this option to be inside the driver.

At the moment i have ULPS enabled and both my 7970 cards clock up to what they are supposed to run at in game.

Surely this is the same as having ULPS disabled?

With ULPS disabled both cards get a even usage spread between them like 80% 80% making games run smoother. With its enabled one card will run 99% while other much lower like 30% for example.

It doesn't in any of the games i've played shankly, usage has been even on both cards

Mmmm I always disabled it. Maybe it's been fixed for while? But last time I had it enabled it give me worst performance.
Anyone else back chief barker up? Later I have 3dmark with ULPS disabled and I'll try it enabled and see if that can pick anything up.

Maybe it's hardware related mate i.e mobo and cpu?

I'm running an old x58 system at 16X 16X.

Shankly I take back everything I just said, I loaded up BF3 with ULPS enabled and I saw 77% on one card and 99% on the other.

Disabled ULPS now i'm getting 85% on both.

Sincerest Apologies mate :o

Been a hard night need some sleep

All is good :) the question is do you think the game is smoother ULPS enabled or disabled?

Trying it now my friend.

Edit:

It's not only smoother but i'm getting better FPS.

I never gave it a thought to disable ULPS ever since owning my 7970s.

Well done and thanks.

Very good shout and id love to hear Thracks take on this. From my own extensive testing i find ULPS to be one of the main cause of microstutter and decreased performance. Disable it and you get 15-20% more usage from the second gpu. It would be fascinating to see reviews test the effect ULPS has on game performance and frame pacing. I believe results would improve dramatically with it off. Someone make AMD aware, just in case they aren't already. Humbug, get on to AMD roy. ;)

Atta boy. Its amazing to think that 79907970/50 cards are faster than 690/680/670/770/760 cards in multi gpu configs with ULPS on, they'd be even faster with it off. Its a shame AMD don't provide this option in CCC. Extra performance and smoothness is just a click away.
