Hmm even tho it says in my mb manual that it has ahci i went to reboot this morning and the bios to see if it was there. All i saw was IDE and no achi option. I have 3 sata hard drives which i assume support ahci but i just cant get it to show the option.

Is it my mb or is it just that only ssd drives will show achi option when connected and not show it when no ssd is connected tho im thinking a big no here but worried now about ahci as ssd are suppose to use it arnt they.

is it a gigabyte board? if so they show as ide at start up but there in ahci, there should be ahci option in bios

Nope its Asus P5KC. In the manual for the mb i do see where ahci should be but all the bios can select where it should be is IDE using Enhance mode.
