Encripting HD's

Hi Guys,

I have a 500GB external SSD that I would like to encript to store potentially sensitive company based information on, but it doesnt have the built in facility like you get on some USB drives. Is there some software that's not expensive that I can use for this and indeed also for my prime SATA HD in the P.C as another option. Does XP have any options here?

A 500GB external SSD? That must have set you back a few quid... :eek:

Truecrypt (open source) is usually recommended, with the one possible gotcha that you need admin privileges to run it in "traveller" mode.

Windows XP comes with EFS (Encrypted File System) .
Right click the folder that you want to encrypt
Select Properties
Select advance
Tick encrypt contents to secure data

isn't the admin privileges thing only for encrypted partitions? in which case, make a file an encrypted file as big as the drive.
