End of contract - yet still need to give 30 days notice?

I gave my notice on 19/10 as my contract ends 17/11. T-mobile also. Got PAC no problem. However I also paid for an unlock code on same day and was told will be 20 days. Then recd a txt msg on 4/11 stating 20 days from now. Called em and complained and they assured me 24-48 hrs to rec code via email. Nothing yet. Hate T-mobile.

You can give 30 days notice while within the min term, never heard not being able to untill min term is over ever.

This was with Three, who I had a lot of trouble with, with the constant lies from the CS. It took me long enough to get them to give me what I'd signed up for amongst all the other lies they like to tell. I liked the network but I couldn't stand the CS.

Ive cancelled 2 contracts over the past week both within 30 days of the end of the contract, one was with Tesco and the other was 3 mobile and both gave me the PAC codes.

You end up paying the last payment on the 24th month and then any extra time used ( a few days on the contract) on the 25th month, couldn't have been easier.

I've cancelled all of my contracts at least a month before they end since my first contract back in 2006 and never been told I couldn't do it till the minimum term was up, this is on pretty much every network as well.
Anyone being told other wise has obviously just pulled the short straw when it comes to CS advisors.

when you say they dont freeze contracts, have you asked? Not being funny but orange just froze my account for 6 months with no problem.

you can call them at month 23 and have it cancelled by month 24. question is can you request the pac code at month 23 and give the cancellation notice at the same time?

That's how I normally do it, contact them tell them I'd like to end my contract and ask if they can issue me the PAC.
If you don't use the PAC then the line will be active till the end of your notice period.

Yeah you can, I did this 2 nights ago with EE. You have to use the PAC by day 30 so I typically phone up at end date -30, ask for pac & termination then start a new contract on -5 with my PAC.

If you don't use the PAC the line will not disconnect at all ;)

Bump. Preparing my self for the horror of cancelling a Three contact. Its up on 31st Dec, so hopefully a swift call 30 days before that will get the job done. I've heard the horrors of not using PAC codes, which results in the number remaining active. As i do not require a PAC i can atleast avoid that one.

Anyone ever successfully canceled via letter (ala http://www.dave-thorp.me.uk/2013/02/27/terminate-a-contract-with-three-uk-the-easy-way/) instead?

It will probably be easier to PAC out to cancel the contract! Not using a PAC code has the same result on any network though.

Just port it to a PAYG SIM and chuck it in the bin if you don't want the number.

There is nothing easier about requesting a pac.why on earth do you think it would be easier.
Just phone up and cancel. You dont even need to wait, phone up know. Its a minimum of 30 days notice. You can still phone up know and request a cancel at end of cotract.

I failed. Rang & was told the earliest i can call is 24th to cancel the contract (24month contract is up on 31st Dec)...

Shh, don't let glaucus see, he'll have a melt down and try to tell you that they didn't say that because they never say that, in a highly condescending way.

Because it's not unheard of for Three CS to tell you they'll cancel and not actually do it.

If you PAC out, then it is 100% definitely cancelled.
