This has probably already been posted or is known by everyone already but for those who missed it

'ometh the hour, cometh the scare. The new one predicts that, on 2012's shortest day - 21 December - the world as we know it will end. Why? Because the Mayan 'Long Calendar' stops then. And why should that matter? Because the Mayans were fantastically sophisticated and inventive astronomers, and 21/12/12 is the last day in a 5,000-year countdown from their 'creation'. '

From what I've heard this may in fact not be the case. Those humourous film reviewers seem to have cottoned on to the fact that claiming they would rather endure the end of the world rather than rewatch this dross is apparently quite funny, at least in their circles.
