So this has appeared on Steam £20.24 with 25% discount. A 4x Strategy game which graphically looks very nice and sounds quite promising.

Very tempted to grab this but wondering if anyone has tried it ? http://g2g.amplitude-studios.com/Games/Endless-Legend

Small feature from IGN ;-

About the Game

Create your own Legend
Another sunrise, another day of toil. Food must be grown, industries built, science and magic advanced, and wealth collected. Urgency drives these simple efforts, however, for your planet holds a history of unexplained apocalypse, and the winter you just survived was the worst on record. A fact that has also been true for the previous five.

As you discover the lost secrets of your world and the mysteries of the legends and ruins that exist as much in reality as in rumor, you will come to see that you are not alone. Other peoples also struggle to survive, to grow, and perhaps even to conquer.

You have a city, a loyal populace, and a few troops; your power and magic should be sufficient to keep them alive. But beyond that, nothing is certain… Where will you go, what will you find, and how will you react? Will your trail be one of roses, or of blood?

Explore fantastic lands.

  • Lead one of eight civilizations each with a unique gameplay style and storyline.
  • Survive through cold dark seasons that drive Auriga to its end. Will it also be yours?
  • Experience an endless replayability with randomly generated worlds and quests.
  • Set the size, shape, topography and more... to create your own world to discover.

Expand beyond the unknown.

  • Conquer, build and develop villages into feared fortresses or wonderful cities.
  • Assimilate powerful minor factions and use their special traits and units wisely.
  • Hire, equip and train your heroes to become army leaders or city governors.
  • Raise your civilization by finding mysterious artefacts and forgotten technologies.

Exploit every opportunity.

  • Evolve your civilization through the discovery of new advanced technologies.
  • Collect Dust, luxuries and strategic resources tradable on the marketplace.
  • Keep one step ahead of other civilizations through trade and subtle diplomacy.
  • Choose from different victory conditions and adapt your strategy on the fly.

Exterminate fools who defy you.

  • Experience an innovative dynamic simultaneous turn-based battle system.
  • Use unit equipement, abilities and the terrain to overcome your opponents.
  • Zoom out of a battle and rule the other aspects of your empire seamlessly.
  • Define your custom civilizations and confront those created by your friends.

I grabbed it and have played roughly two hours so far and it's pretty darn good, albeit I don't really know what I'm doing :p

It plays like Civilisation 5 plus Fallen Enchantress plus Might & Magic all mixed into one and is quite polished for a pre-alpha. It has all the ingredients to make a great 4x game and feedback seems promising.

Was released two days ago, out of early access. Decided to buy this as I'd had a 4x craving recently :P. Preordered Beyond Earth as well and this looked like it could satisfy me in the meantime.

Purchased this yesterday as I really like Endless Space and this feels a lot like Civ5 mixed with it. Having a blast at the moment but combat takes a bit of getting used to.

If you like 4x or Civ Strat games, this is worth a look.

I like it so far, but I have experienced a CTD - first time a game has done that to me in many, many years.

I'm surprised there isn't more noise about this.

The latest patch has cured my CTD and I have to say after a number of hours in, Endless Legend is proving to be a gem of a 4X game.

How is the AI? I want to pick this up as it looks great, but I keep hearing the AI is god awful.

In fairness I've only had two games over ~8 hours, can't say I've noticed it being that bad or at least no worse than Civ!

I think it's worth it. Beautiful UI, nice depth to the game ... the only issue ( sometimes ) as reported elsewhere, is that the AI can be passive but I'm sure that's fixable. The base game mechanics are very sound with no major flaws. If you like Civ5 & fantasy then you'll like this. Should you want to check the game out have a look at Arumba's Let's Play stream on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLH-huzMEgGWC417bLBi31wB5lh6WTnbf_

I want to enjoy it but I immediately found the combat resolution too simplistic. It's halfway between HOMM and CIV and for me it seems to miss both. All I seem to be able to do is direct fire onto targets which produces a very samey combat. I feel as though I preferred Endless Space where I actually had less control; this seems an illusion of control.

No doubt on the UI thought, prettiest I've ever seem on a 4x.

Decided to pick it up, not played against the UI and have just been playing with a friend instead. Really like it, it's not Civ and not HoMM but somewhere in the middle so I don't really feel like I'm playing either of them, yet at the same time it feels familiar so I think they did a good job with it.

The only aspect I don't like so far is unit combat which is a pretty big area. With Civ and HoMM you have far more control over your units, with this you just seem to press a button and they just go running and do whatever they want.

Okay maybe I'm just being thick here, but I've Googled and I can't find anything.

How in the world do you capture a city? I've sieged it down to 0 and then nothing happens. Tried moving a unit on top of the city and still nothing.

Anyone playing this at the moment? Thread dead. Finding the game more fun than Beyond Earth.

I have been playing as Broken Lords, probably my favorite faction so far
