Our first night in Rome, my gf and I made the mistake of opening an email from npower regarding our latest bill: £530!!!

Now, this is based on an estimated reading (kicking myself for forgetting) but our last bill was £330 over the winter months. Has anyone else been stung by these horrendous new tariffs? It seems crazy to pay that much to heat and power a 2 bed terraced house. It's not like we have the heating on a lot, and our bill is mostly gas (hot water and heating only) so I'm trying to work out how our bills have doubled over the last year!

530 quid for how long? A quarter?

We are just at the end of a capped price deal and all the sites i've been on and input our details means our is going to increase quite a bit!

£150 last month, chucked in an extra £35 so we don't go into the red to much. But we over pay summer months.
I'm assuming that's a quarter and so not to bad if you have rubbish insulation and heating on a fair bit.

Yeah that's a quarter. I was just surprised that our bill over october to Jan was £330 and the last three months was £200 more. We do use a bit more electric because my gf works from home, but our house heats up very quickly so we rarely use the heating more than an hour in the morning on cold weeks. I guess it's just time to break out the blankets if it gets chilly in the evening.

My past bills with Eon are these :eek::eek::eek::(:(:(

Robbing gits.

Feb 12) £808.86 :eek::eek:

May 12) £686.89:eek::eek:

Aug 12) £881.68:eek::eek:

Nov 12) £273.21 :)

Feb 13) £467.27 :eek::eek:

we signed up pn a great deal with sainsburys but after 2 months went up from £135 a month dual fuel to £159 then 2 months later up again to £189 just had guy read meters monday i hope not another increase as still 6 months on the contract

i hope with the drop in usage over summer things will even out maybe if im lucky go down a little

I'm using around £1-£1.50 a day 1bed flat

pc on 24/7

That's because you're heating your tiny place with your pc :p

I'll look into that spark company. It's tough to just get a straight price comparison with these sneaky energy companies. Just tell me how much you are going to charge me per kwh ffs!

Got my electric bill for a quarter (30 Jan - 30 April) 130pound.

That is good considering I used the heating more these last months.

I pay 50 a month through DD, so should get money back next year :D

LOL just checked my estimated yearly usage on the EON website based on what I have used since I moved in back in january

£200 a year and that's including a standing charge of £99 (prepay meter)
that's just electric though and not heating

My meter readings are usually automatic everytime I top up and I just noticed they did a "manual" reading a few weeks ago :D
I bet they suspected me of messing with the meter or something because of how little I use :D

Don't forget that's an estimate, there estimates are never good. Untill you get home and read your meter.

This is my hope. Their estimate is that we've used 30% more this quarter than last, which doesn't feel right to me. Gonna get a neighbour to have a peek at our gas meter (it's outside) to get an idea.

If we provide a reading will I still have to pay their bill or will they amend it to meet our actual usage? It'd be nice to spread things a bit since my gf handed in her notice 2 weeks ago!

My dual fuel DD has just increased from £60pm to £84pm, not much in comparison. I expect this is to cover the increase in usage over the winter months. My gas usage drops about 70% in the summer while the sun warms my house :)

pay around £110 a month for gas and electric in a 3 bed detached with 2 adults and 1 child.

What i noticed the other day is I pay £66 a month for water? gave them a call and they owe me something daft.

Used to pay £52 a month for water on a 2 bed flat with 1 occupant. Gave them a call and told me that is the standard charge for my flat. Friend got a 2 bed terraced house 1 street away from mine, 3 occupants, pays £35 a month.

Had a metered installed, and got my first bill a week ago, £10.57 :D

I'm paying like £36 a month although they take 40DD because I'm to months behind (not my fault I setup the direct debit straight away but they didn't start taking payments for 2 months)

Tempted to ask for a water meter but I probably should check what I'm paying for sewage etc as part of the bill first.

where exactly does the water meter go?

October 2012 through March 2013 saw my bill at £202, so about £35 a month roughly. That's in fully electric 1 bedroom flat, PC on quite a lot.
