My friend had a heatpump fitted by Octopus. This included all the hardware, including over 10 new radiators and 2-3 guys working on site for about 3 days.So nothing to do with non-means tested heat pump grants then?
It’s centrally funded grant (e.g. from tax), it’s not part of the green levy’s on your electricity bill which was jpaul’s point. My friend had a heatpump fitted by Octopus. This included all the hardware, including over 10 new radiators and 2-3 guys working on site for about 3 days.
He paid a little over £1000 for all that. I'm assuming all the rest (X more thousand pounds) was basically paid by us (eg: energy bill green tarrifs)?
Of course there would be, just in time for my car to come at the end of match.Rumour has it on the Octopus forum that there's going to be quite a big jump in IOG prices from April

That’s huge, eon drive next is a lot cheaper than that and is fixed for a year and has a higher export rate.Rumour has it on the Octopus forum that there's going to be quite a big jump in IOG prices from April

Hopefully it is just rubbish, it was originally posted on social media by some unknown individual, so pure rumour, could be completely made up. Nothing official on the Octopus forum, and I wouldn't expect them to confirm or deny it either.I can not see it rising that much, would lose a lot of customers.
Just hearsay rubbish I guess. If it does, I ll buy another inverter and 30 more panels.
Im on the fence of what to do right now.
Im on a July 24 tracker (electric only we dont have gas) its been above fixed for a good few months now, with the occasional "spike" except for the last week or so its actually been lower.
It runs until August 2025 apparently (according to the app anyway?) - but I am wondering if we have got over the worst of it, given the temperatures are starting to come up a little. Also we have solar so as the days get longer and the sun shines (not there has been much sunshine recently) that should help.
But............. I am also wondering if there is logic even being on a tracker, sure, its generally cheaper in the summer, but then with the solar you are using less anyway, so you are getting it cheaper when using less, getting it more expensive (all be it a bit) over the winter when you are using more, I am not sure that makes sense?
I'd be interested to see if octopus offer any 6 month fixed rates with the lower standing charge/higher unit cost, because that would make sense, switch to that from mid MArch to mid september, than back on a higher standing charge/lower unit cost over the winter 6.
christ i hope that is BS. octopus should squash that right away if not true..... It is making me think of jumping ship and geting a 12 month fix elsewhere. as it is EON drive is likely a tiny amount cheaper than IOG for me, but 1) not enough to be worth the hassle of moving and 2) i wanted to support the trend setter not the johnny come lately.Rumour has it on the Octopus forum that there's going to be quite a big jump in IOG prices from April

I'm getting quite confused now about what to do. I'm with EDF on their Ensure Nov 25 tracker and when I do the comparison sites it seems that I'm no better off (says no saving) although the new prices for April are not being used yet (hope this is correct). There's also a £25 exit fee for both fuels so do I ride it out and stay what I'm on? We're not massive users and whilst bills are high now (latest one is £160), once the heating goes off my bills normally go down to under £100 per month, I pay the whole amount by DD too.
It used to be so clear cut when changing tariffs but it all seems so complicated now or it could be just me that's an old bugger![]()
I watched his show this morning but then I'm double guessing myself and getting confused with my tracker and being on the price cap!Martin Lewis advice thus week was if you are fixed, to ride it out and refix when renewal comes up. We are on the EDF tracker with discounts on standing charges. We too are not massive users, with a direct debit if about £100 per month. We aim to save about £50 per fuel per annum.
