About 5k but did it smart and didn't buy off the high street - valued at around 12K.

6 years ago and I paid around £1k.

Nothing too big nor too flashy.
Most importantly the (now wife) picked it out herself and loves it.

I dont believe that you paid £5k for £12k's worth of ring by simply buying "smartly". I believe you bought £5k's worth of ring which perhaps might retail at £12k on the high end of the high street.
