Hoping to propose to my gf at some point over this christmas. I'd really want to get a ring that fits first time without coming out and asking her ring size (you know what girls I'll like, they'll ask 100 questions and probably cotton on to something going on)

How can I find out her ring size secretly?

I'm sure some people on here have had experiences of this

when she's asleep, measure her finger.

or casually go to a jewellers curious about your own finger size, then casually find out what her right hand ring finger is, chances are it'll be pretty much the same unless she's got one giant hand, look at rings for yourself to really sell it

very clever, did think about doing something like this

I covertly picked up my girlfriends ring size many moons ago in a conversation she had with her mother while I was there. The peace of mind that comes with already knowing this information in case I ever need it is superb. What's more she will be baffled as to how I know.

for times like this, its invaluable information...unfortunately i usually have my bloke head on and block out girly information like this :D

You don’t need a ring to get engaged, do it then take her to a jewellers and let her choose one, that’s what we did. Problem solved.

sounds good idea and the common sense thing to do, however wouldnt it be thecase that she might end up choosing a ring she doesnt like 100% but is cheaper? not that there is anything wrong with this :)

when she gose for a show or bath and takes of one of her rings take it , she then stress out and be sad that she lost one of her rings, get the engagement ring of the corrrect size using the ring you borrowed to help . then come xmas you can go "honey i got you a new ring" while on one knee , thats how I would do it lol

haha genious!!! :D

Well in the end I bought a ring, wasn't the right size but they said they'd take it back once I did the deed to resize it or replace for another ring.

The perfect chance to do it came up after she was so upset after bumping my car, nothing would cheer her up so luckily I had the ring and proposed and even better she said yes so its now on to hard saving to pay for the wedding....never knew how expensive!!!! some people really know how to milk the occasion

We've now splt up and she wants to keep the ring as a memory, and thinks its bad I'd accept a gift back even though its meaninless now..

18 carot white gold and a 1/4 carot diamond.. golds expensive these days, could do with the spare money too :(

If you've broke up i'd have the ring back...why would she want to keep it as a memory? probably wants to keep it to get the money for it

and cheers everyone! :D

dont worry about it, shops are quite understanding....the one i went to said i can either take the ring and return it if she says yes to get the correct size measured so at least i've got a ring for doing the deed or order the correct size before hand.
