Hi guys,

I'm looking for someone who could build a high spec engine for a mk1 focus, don't say this is a bad idea because it is my own choice. I've heard of this guy Ian Howell but apparently he no longer does them.

Does anyone know somewhere that could do this?

Many thanks

'high spec' engine? you mean rebuild it and slap a turbo on it? good way to spend 3k... when you could buy an S14 for that and still have more power.

I won't say it's a bad idea, I'll TELL you it's a bad idea :) It's a focus... even the ST170 wasn't great

Don't forget bigger brakes, you know to slow you down from warp speed or the tree you will probably crash into with your "high spec engine" - and you will almost certainly need a big bore exhaust to make de gurlz drop dere pantz init.

/sarcasm off

Performance Ford is probably a better place to ask than a PC forum. People used to drop Cossie engines into them but with a drivetrain swap tbh putting an ST 170 engine in there would be the easiest bet surely? Not sure but I believe it would be a straight swap? Someone feel free to correct me as it's almost 8 years since my last Perfomance Ford.

Op bought a knackered mk1 focus as his first car with a shabby interior that he has (or plans to) lower, wrap and respray the trim. The chances of him spending several thousand of pounds on a hand built engine are about the same as me porking Katy Perry tonight.

Just because it's your choice it doesn't make it any less stupid.

You haven't said what engine you have, what you want or what spec you want the engine (other than high, which is totally meaningless) so I can only assume you have no idea what you are doing?

Appropriate username is appropriate...

If you want a proper "high spec" engine, your best bet is probably the RB211-524H-T, although it won't do much for your fuel economy :(

And the chances of him being able to insure it legally. :p

Just buy a MK1 Focus RS if you want a fast MK1 Focus. At least it'll be worth something when you try to sell it.

1.) His name is "RudeBoy"
2.) He wants to lower, wrap, and spray bits of an old Focus
3.) A month ago he was asking about Tesco "black box" insurance and whether or not modifications need to be declared.

He doesn't have a hope in hell of insuring a Focus RS for this side of a million pounds. :p

Please don't do anything to your car. :(
Please just drive it stock. :(
Please don't drive like a yob. :(
Please don't ask any more silly questions about modifications you are never going to perform. :(
