Yeah I think they both have the X20XEV engine so it seems like it would be ok.

I would not be doing the work myself, however I have a cheap mechanic that could for £200. Even so, the reliability of a second hand engine does concern me so I have not yet decided what I will do.

How much is the car actually worth though?
 
noth x20xevs so should be a nice straight forward swap, best bet is to pick up a complete cavalier or early vectra cheap, that way you wont be caught short of any small niggly parts that may have changed
 
very straightforward swap,

picked up a ecotec cavalier about 5 years ago for 80 quid, for something similar(snapped timing belt on my cav sri) swapped engines over, and weighed the rest in for 60 quid :)
