Engine hesitates

Don't use the car again until you've worked out whats going on with that plug. Good chance the broken bit has fallen into the engine and it's not going to burn up, just bouce about destroying your engine. Are you sure the plug was whole when you put it in?

It was whole when put in and its all there but theres a crack in it, also now the plugs out the water has gone into the cylinder :(

okay now i'm worried;

theres a engine cover over where the spark plugs go, and i had a look just now and theres water in there?!

Also 1 lead does look a little worse for ware

And last but not least a spark plug has cracked (the porcerlin bit) i KNOW i didnt crack it so somehow the engine did?

Theres not water missing out of the radiator box though?!

heat would have cracked that, again possibly a lean mixture as this makes them run hot.

take the plugs out, see if any of the white ceramic bits have died at the electrode end.

so there was water around the plugs? if so thats outside the engine so not too much to worry about.

clean it up, check the plugs, get new leads.

if you find anywhere selling cheap leads, let me know as the missus may want some soon.

Thats what i was thinking but my dad (whos currently in New Zealand) seems to think i should first of all put RadWeld into the Radiator to make sure thats not where the water is comeing from? Does that make sense?

Thats good that the plug is whole, much less of a disaster:). I'd turn the engine over a few times on the starter with the plug out to make sure the water is driven out before you try and start it again. As long as the ceramic is all there on the plug, just replace it and continue looking for the problem:).

radweld will generally seal any holes in the radiator or block (but not usually the most trust worthy stuff in the world).

just to clarify, there was water sitting around the base of the plugs when you took the cover off? as long as thats not in the engine youre fine.

to check whether the oil and water has mixed (to see if your block is cracked etc check the coolant water to see if there is signs of oil contamination and check the dipstick and inside the top of the oil filler.)

when oil and water mix in an engine you end up with a gunk that looks like dirty mayonaise

Im not sure i know its a 1.6 Efi and google seems to surges it is a zetec but i dont know
I think mine said zetec on the block, it may or may not be but regaurdless your immediate problem is your plugs, new plugs and leads as suggested, but i feel the engine may be running hot as also suggested which indicates either sensor error, or a fluid flow problem be it oil or water, on the whole i reckon the sensors i suggested previously are likely candidates, lambda and airflow are heavily tied to engine managment

one of my plugs did that, not just crack but slip down and was resting on the bent part of the plug. set of new plugs and misfire at startup was gone and hesitation like you have was gone.

Well replaced 2 of the plugs with the old ones (which i changed 6 wks ago) and then I went to buy a set of HT leads... Forty ****ing quid? wtf? So in the end i found out a set i took of my dead (RIP) fiesta for a couple of years ago 'n replaced one and now it is working okay, just burning a little white smoke which im guessing is the remains of water..

cheers guys
