"Engine Malfunction"

Most annoying, yesterday on the way home from work a new light appeared on my dashboard.

Once parked up I grabbed the handbook, and checked the nice neon warning.

"Engine Malfunction", and states to take to a ford garage immediately.
2001 (Y) Ford Mondeo estate, 2L 16v ghia.

Another weekend of running around trying to fix a car.

My luck with cars isn't the best. shall we run a sweepstake as to the problem?

I left it sitting for an hour last night and started it again, still *** light was on. nothing sounded out of place, but didn't take it for a spin. Could be absolutely anything I suppose, any ideas from the Ford boys here?

i managed to get it in 2pm this afternoon at my local place. They work on all the family cars and friends families. Always done good by us innit

I will see what they say. I did have a look on the net, ther eis about 2000 errror codes that it might spit out! We will see.

It has had a rattly timing chain for a while. Fingers crossed it isn't that!

Out of interest how much is a reader, and has it proved a valuable tool?

I don't know, a couple of cold mornings and a bit of rain all our cars are faling apart!
