My car is shuddering/jerking when I pull through the revs. Its OK if I dont put my foot down or travel at low speed or stay below 2.5k rpm. Ive checked my airfilter and its a little dirty and the airbox has nothing in it. I took my car in for a full service 10k ago and it should have had sparks, oil etc changed.
Does anyone know whats up with it?

BTW its vvti if that helps at all.

Cheers

Possible engine mount/s loose?
Clutch slipping?

Could be a number of problems, i sugggest take it to your local dealer for a good look at.

Could be something like an air flow/pressure sensor failure. My VAG 1.8T suffered these exact symptoms when one of the boost pressure sensors went, and the ECU therefore had no idea how much air to supply fuel for.

If it is it shouldn't be too hard to change on your own :)

Sounds like a lead to me though and it's misfiring

its not a misfire because it doesnt do it until I get to 3k rpm. It like the vvti kicks it and then stops. Then when I keep my foot in it going up to 4.5krpm it kicks in again and stops and does the same at 5k rpm. It doesnt do it when Im just going around at low revs

Shuddering and jerking definitely sounds like a misfire!

I had a similar issue and it was caused by a duff spark plug. Even though it was new.

"Missfire consistent across the rev range = Spark plus
Random missfire or when it's damp = Leads
Missfire at low revs dissapearing at high revs = Coil pack
Missfire at only high revs = Crank position sensor.
I stand by my "99% it's the coil pack" diagnosis.
Getting an ecu reader on it will more than likely find the issue, although it'd take me a side of A4 to tell you what to look for once the codes are read so I'm not going to bother. "

A guy from another forum who works for Toyota seems to think its just the MAF sensor by what Ive told him. If it isnt then I think its the coil pack as well.
It only does it when I go past 3k rpm in every gear. So Ive been keeping it below that and my car seems fine.

Don't rev above 3k then? Sounds like you need to cut down on the VVTI Y0 traffic light Grand Prix's!

Useful help: Sounds like something other than a misfire to me, sparks don't lose strength as revs increase so it would be the same across the board, not just above 3k surely.

The thing is I hadnt really noticed cause I dont really drive like a nutter. I only noticed it the other day but I just thought it was something of nothing and I stopped giving my car stick. Then it was still doing it on the weekend, so I thought that theres something wrong.
Also my car hasnt been over 3k since I let my mate have a look at the problem and he seems to think its something to do with the air box sensor. Anyways Im going to clean it today and see if that sorts it. I will update you all and then you know if you even have a similar problem.
