What the..

Fabio Capello's team have moved above Brazil and Argentina in the rankings, updated today, despite only reaching the last 16 in last summer's World Cup, and failing to win two of their last three qualifying matches for next summer's European Championships.

This must be FIFA11.. Even Fab look rather confussed

Does this mean that our poor world cup only has a weighting of 50%?

Brazil (and Argentina) lost 295 points. Anybody know why that is? Have they not played any friendlies/continental cups recently?

Add the end of the day like the article says it's just a ranking of success in recent matches really, not skill. So I guess if you're not playing matches then you're not going to get the points.

Or Argentina's comically talented front line :p

i would put england ahead of argentina, lets be honest here, argentina have zero defence and terrible keepers.

argentina's best defenders are now all OAP's. zanetti 37, heinze 33, samuel 33.

they have more world class strikers than any other team out there though, but its a team game and 11 players make a team.

On the plus side, it's based upon a four-year period, so in a few months time we'll get to knock the terrible reign of McClaren off our records. Onwards and upwards! \o/

It's just a very temporary blip due to the way the points are accumulated. As soon as the Copa América is finished the South American nations (+ a few others) will regain their relative positions and England will be back to a more typical ranking.
