My latest feelings are that Scolari will get the job.

Thoughts?

Scolari denies England interview

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari says he has not been interviewed by the Football Association about becoming England's next manager.

Several newspaper reports in England suggested the Brazilian was set to get the job after having an impressive second interview.

"No, I don't (sic) have an interview," Scolari told BBC Radio Five Live.

"I am coach of Portugal and I am only thinking and speaking about Portugal until the last day of the World Cup."

Scolari, who spoke to Five Live's Sportsweek programme in February, added: "I said to the BBC... that I am happy that they (the FA) are thinking about me.

"But I have a contract with Portugal and I don't want to talk anything more about any contract until the last day of my job with Portugal."

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce said he would be very surprised if Scolari got the England job.

"Is Scolari the new kid on the block at the moment?" Pearce said.

"He certainly has an impressive record and has managed in lots of different countries. But people I speak to in the street all want an English manager.

"The groundswell of opinion from the general public is that a British-based manager will get the job."

Pearce, who is believed to be out of the running to replace Eriksson, believes too much notice is being taken of recent results.

"If I was looking to appoint someone to do the national job their immediate run of results wouldn't overly matter," he said.

"You cannot say whether someone is a good or bad manager over a period of three or four months.

"But that seems to be the nature of the business we are in at the minute.

"Steve McClaren started as 20-1 outsider but because of the run of results he is now the favourite."

It has been suggested that Pearce could play some sort of coaching role in a new England set-up, but he says he is only focusing on Manchester City.

"If a coaching post was ever offered to me I would have to speak about it," he said.

"But as I stand at the moment, managing a Premiership team is a full-time job."

Forget Scolari for now - Felleger

England have been told to focus on the World Cup and not their next coaching appointment by the agent of Portugal boss and reported target Luiz Felipe Scolari.
The Brazilian has been linked with the post which will become vacant after this summer's big tournament in Germany and fresh speculation over the weekend has seen the 57-year-old re-emerge as a leading candidate to replace Sven-Goran Eriksson. Scolari's representative Acaz Felleger poured cold water on the stories, however, saying: "It's all speculation.
"We are two months away from the World Cup and Luiz Felipe Scolari is focused on his job in Portugal. He just needs to have a good World Cup and after this, he might talk about his future. If the FA is really interested in signing him, they should be focused on their work for the World Cup like Scolari is at the moment. England must think first about this World Cup and then on other issues."
Scolari is one of the most highly-rated tacticians in the game. England are well aware of his acumen as he was in charge of Brazil's World Cup-winning side that won a quarter-final between the sides in Japan and Korea four years ago.
Two years later and Scolari's Portugal knocked England out of Euro 2004 but his team lost in the final to Greece.

Portugal reveal pact with Scolari

Portuguese Football Federation chairman Gilberto Madail says coach Luiz Felipe Scolari would not agree to become the next England boss before the World Cup.

Scolari has denied being interviewed by the Football Association about becoming Sven-Goran Eriksson's replacement.

Madail said Scolari will decide on his future only when his deal with the Portugal team ends in late July.

"We have got a gentlemen's agreement and it will not be broken. I've got his word and that's it," said Madail.

The Football Association want to announce Eriksson's successor before this summer's World Cup finals in Germany and Scolari, who guided Brazil to World Cup glory in 2002, is reported to be high on their shortlist.

However, Scolari told BBC Radio Five Live on 24 April that he is only concentrating on masterminding Portugal's World Cup campaign.

"I have a contract with Portugal until 31 July and until this day I am coach of Portugal," he said.

"I don't think about England. If I think about England, I forget Portugal. That is not my job now, just Portugal."

Scolari's agent Acaz Felleger added: "He just needs a good World Cup and after this he might talk about his future."

And Madail added: "I do not believe the reports running in the British press. Scolari is a professional like any other.

"We will only make a decision after the World Cup. July 31 is the right time to talk about this issue.

"Our main concern at the moment is to make our dreams real at the World Cup."

Scolari and Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren have emerged as favourites for the post of England boss.

However, Bolton manager Sam Allardyce insisted on Tuesday that he was still in the frame for the position.

Scolari as England Manager is a terrific choice, idea and appointment. He has a world cup and european pedigree that is mouthwatering - Of the named candidates, he is the dream choice. Phil for England I say.

Well ok.

Name me 5 players outside of the Brazil, Argentinian and Italian first teams who are world class.

Who are super duper world beaters.

You cant, so dont bother trying.

Absurd, Sorry to jump into a conversation that had nothing to do with me but I couldn't help overhearing.
Do you honestly believe that there are so few 'super duper' players outside of Brazil, Argentina and Italy? You have a very narrow view of talent and the world of football if this is the case.
I could sit here and name dozens of 'super duper' players from all over the planet. Throwing names like Raul, Zidane, Thierry Henry, Shevchenko, Christiano Ronaldo, Pavel Nedved, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Michael Ballack will be obvious household names to you (I could go on) but i'll use this opportunity to also draw attention to some possible unfamiliar names that could be lighting up the World Cup this year and changing your opinions of world beaters - Dario Srna of Croatia, Edison Mendez of Ecuador, Nikola Zigic of Serbia & Montenegro, Alexander Frei of Switzerland, Freddy Adu of USA, Simão of Portugal.....And many more! *Coffe Break Time*

Wow, never have i seen someone miss the point of another post quite so much.

Try reading it again and then read it in the context of why it was written and then try again.

He wanted the names of 5 players outside of any of those countries starting lineups which are world class, which means he wanted for example 5 world class brazillian players who are not in the starting 11 for brazil, to illustrate the point that they don't have world class players not playing, not that there aren't world class players outside of Brazil, Argentina and Italy.

Ok.....I see, apologies.
