So with Owen ruling himself out for the rest of the season who would be your five strikers to go to the WC?

I haven't got a clue tbh, I can name three I'd take but I can't think of the other two...

Rooney
Crouch
Defoe
?
?

Agbonlahor? is he good enough? Cole? again is he really that good? Heskey? does he do enough to warrant a spot? Who else? Zamora? Bent? please, no!

Tricky decisions to make, all England need now is for Rooney to get injured and then we're talking pear-shaped.

I'd go with ,

Rooney,
Defoe,
Crouch,
Agbonlahor
Zamora

At present I would agree with that :). There's a good mix of players in there however as a previous poster has mentioned, I don't feel any of them would compare to Rooney if picked up an injury. Saying that, if he were to get injured I would be looking to players such as Gerrard to step up.

I too would go with those choices but for one Zamora hasn't had a call up yet and will probably be very doubtful this late in the season to force his way onto the National team with a World Cup at stake but I would like to see him go.

Are we even sure that Capello will take five strikers!?!?

He could go for:

Rooney
Defoe
Crouch
Cole (given that he came on against Egypt)

And then put in someone like Walcott who could play either in midfield or up front (more than can be said for the other right wingers, Wright-Phillips, Lennon, Bentley, Beckham!!!)

Owens quick injury at the last World Cup illustrated how important having the cover is!!

Surely Carlton has to be in with a shout, no? He holds the ball up so well and knows where the goal is. Id actually be surprised if he's not in (assuming he stays fit).

I'd take Cole too.

Others would be Rooney, Defoe, Crouch. Not sure we need 5.

Agree, I like Cole but due to injuries I don't think he'll certainly be on the plane, like Walcott, Joe Cole and Lennon. Injuries have been very cruel to them but when they're all fit they definitely should be there.
