I wouldnt bother with 5 strikers, they simply wont get a game, ever.
I wouldnt bother with packing the team full of midfielders either, only 4 are ever going to play bar some freak accident.
I dont understand a lot of the time what england managers base their team selections on, you would think for the sake of argument, if the best team in the league, has a regular starting 11 that consists of a high number of english players, that you would keep that core of players toghether, and then select other players to fit in with how that core of players play.
So say as an example (I'm going to ignore ages and form in this example, its not the point) that United went on to win the League and the champions league this season, with a settled side that consisted of:
Foster
Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra.
Valencia Carrick, Scholes, Nani
Rooney Owen.
You would think that they would look at that and go, hmm, we only need find a center back, left back and two wingers to fit in with that side, we dont need to worrk about then never playing toghether as we have a solid settled spine. Now you could say, well thats never happened, but it has, just not on that scale.
As for the strikers named, whether its Cole, Zamora, Gabby, you might as well be just be listing kitchen utensils, as none of them are going to get a kick, only Rooney Defoe and Crouch will ever see the pitch no matter what happens.
