English League Football & FA Community Shield ** spoilers ** [6th - 8th August 2010]

Good game. Impressive from us I thought. Always hate playing Chelsea but we looked fairly comfortable throughout. Scholes was immense. Hernandez looked very comfortable and I look forward to seeing more from him.

What today showed is that we have a good squad, a very good squad. Four quality strikers, 4 strong CM's, 4 solid CB's. Backup at LB and RB and on the wing. Ferdinand, Anderson and Hargreaves still to come back. Chelsea I don't feel are as strong as they were last season. If Lampard, Mikel or Essien get injured who do they have to fill those spots? With Belletti, Deco and Ballack gone they seem a bit thin to me in those positions, maybe someone else can explain otherwise.

Ramerez (sp?) will be arriving - maybe he isnt a huge signing but it will certainly add strength in depth to CM positions (and should do for the rumoured £18m ) not to mention posibility they are after another CM also

Utd played well today - and in one off games Im never that worried about Scholes (or Giggs) but the long grind of the season , stability goes out of Utd because of the constant swapping. The older players also get less and less energetic as the season goes on (maybe all players do but its more apparent in the older players).

Unfortunately I dont think Hargreaves will ever be seen in a Utd shirt for the 1st team again (unless its a cameo in the last seconds of a few games at the end of the season), I hope Im wrong ........in one sense this was the worst result for Utd as it means SAF more than likely will stick to his guns and not sign anyone else.

Before December Utd will be found wanting on a number of occasions in central midfield, today is not a real / fair indicator to either side

No Ozil then :p

Exactly what I was implying with my post above:) - we really need creativity in the middle when Scholes isnt playing, otherwise we just look ordinary (or predictable going out wide all the time)

He'll probably talk to Ozil and agree something for January/next season most likely.

Wouldnt hold my breath if I were you :)

Remember WB are in the CL playoffs also - so possibility Ozil will be cuptied if bought in Jan (even though they have a tough draw with Sampdoria)

I wouldn't judge season expectations on the back of a Charity shield game, the players were playing at half speed for most of that game.

Doesn't change the fact it is a glorified friendly where players hearts obviously aren't in it.

I think you need to have been watching / listening to the commentary - it certainly sounded like the players really wanted it from both sides :)

(Im not disputing that it means little for the coming season though)

I watched the whole game down the pub, there was almost no pressing for 90% of the game.

You are a child, honestly.

That was used in the conext of "I have expressed my opinion on this matter" not I am ignoring any other opinion.

And please, just pack it in with the tough guy persona, we both know you wont step out from behind your keyboard.;)

Oh please back on your lets meet up and have a punch up are you? And who's the child? You're pathetic

For the record we did play 4-4-2 like I said we would and we didn't get over-run and comfortably beat at all like you said.

I have no idea why people think that chelsea are firm favourites for this game. United have had the better pre season and have a stronger squad than chelsea in my opinion.

Must say when they went through the subs benches at the start of the game I was quite surprised at just how superior ours was, I know they were missing 3 first team defenders but we still have Rio, Hargreaves & Anderson to return to ours as well as Brown, Rafael, Gibson, Macheda and Neville not being named
